Sony has decided to stop producing game discs for PS5. People are mad at this and the big content creators are making videos and posts about it. 

The problem we have is you could see this coming. When they made a digital only console, we knew they were trying to lock you into their platform. The digital console didn’t sell well, but when they made the disk drive as an add on, we had issue. No one was asking questions about what this could mean for the next console.

People then bought the PS5 Pro with no disk drive. We were called names because we asked about why it didn’t have one. Some bought a disk drive, but many people who are saying we need to pressure Sony, did not.

We showed you years ago that Sony saying the vast majority of games sales were digital, wasn’t totally true. Their 1st party sales were still mostly sold physical. The same people didn’t say anything, or told us those were old stats. Now they’re taking our screenshot of the info and sharing it. 

The move away from disks has been going on for a long time. It seems Sony wasn’t sure about it, since the times they tried to go more digital didn’t totally work. So what made them announce it and feel comfortable? GTA6. They saw people will preorder a game without seeing gameplay. People will pay $80 for games that are codes in a box, and defend it. Nintendo kept getting criticism for a similar thing. On disk dlc has never been liked, it used to be extra items, a small mission, or stat increases. Today people defend GTA having stores in an open world costing $20 to use.

There’s a lot of people canceling their PS Plus, and I’m not sure why they are doing this. If you want to push back on digital only, you would cancel your GTA preorders. This would push back on digital only physical games, $80 games and $100 editions. For a while, the people criticizing Sony were defending GTA. 

They’ve also made a change petition. Why? I can’t remember a change petition changing a company’s decision. Gamers didn’t make a change how they spent. They complained about Nintendo, Sony and others, but they still gave them money. So now companies know that you will still buy no matter what you say.
